Brookline artist Isabella Frost will exhibit a series of autobiographical handmade fabric and embroidery collages in "Postcards from My Life" in the Brookline Arts Center Gallery from December 3 to December 20, 2009. Presented concurrently with the 35th Annual Crafts Showcase, a popular sale of fine crafts, art and gifts that Frost has organized for many years at the Brookline Arts Center, Postcards from My Life is a visual diary compiled by an enthusiastic world traveler, with images from Italy, Africa, Vermont, and home scenes of Brookline and Boston.

"Isabella Frost’s work is fun and charming: it’s as full of energy and personality as the artist," says Brookline Arts Center Executive Director Susan Navarre. "In each work, she finds the telling detail, and then represents it with expressive stitches and lively fabric collage."

A native of Brookline with deep ties to the community, Frost studied music composition and piano at Boston University and in London. She is also an alumna of the Winsor School. Self taught as a fabric artist, Frost began teaching art at the Brookline Arts Center in the 1980’s, and served as the President of the board from 1999 to 2001. In recent years, she has exhibited her work at the Brookline Arts Center and galleries in Vermont; her work is in many prominent local art collections.

There will be a free Opening Reception on December 6, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. The Brookline Arts Center is located at 86 Monmouth Street, at the corner of St. Mary’s Street; the exhibition is open Thursdays, noon - 8:00 p.m. and Fridays through Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m. The center is easily reached by public transportation and is wheelchair accessible.
